A Friday Reminder from Yours Truly
With the hustle and bustle of daily life, it can be easy to forget the importance of rest. But as we approach the weekend, I want to remind you of the beauty and necessity of taking time to recharge and renew. As someone who checks off to-do lists, I know firsthand how crucial it is to make rest a priority.
In fact, the Bible has much to say about the value of rest. In Exodus 20:8-10, we are commanded to remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. And in Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus himself invites us to come to him when we are weary and burdened, promising rest for our souls.
So today, I challenge you to take some intentional time to rest and reflect on these verses:
Psalm 37:7- "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him."
Psalm 62:1- "Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him."
Psalm 91:1-2- "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'"
Isaiah 40:31- "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Jeremiah 31:25- "I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint."
Matthew 6:25- "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?"
Mark 6:31- "Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, 'Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.'"
John 14:27- "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
Romans 8:6- "The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace."
Hebrews 4:9- "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God."
After reading these verses, I encourage you to take a moment to journal about what rest means to you and how you can prioritize it in your life.
Journal Writing Prompt:
What activities or practices help me feel most rested and renewed? How can I make space for these in my life?
As we close out this holiday week and enter the weekend, let us pray together:
Dear Father God, We come to you this Friday morning with gratitude. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sinned against us. Thank you for the abundance in our lives. Help us count our blessings today and this weekend. We ask not our will but Your will be done. Watch over us and our loved ones this weekend. Take away any pain or heartache from your people. Bring peace and healing. It is in Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen. 🙏🏾
Rest well, my friends. You are loved.
Sincerely,
Ya Rose
