As we gather on this beautiful last day of summer, I am deeply moved by the profound importance of recognizing that time and seasons belong to God. In our fast-paced world, it's easy to become consumed by the relentless march of time, often leaving us feeling overwhelmed or anxious.
However, when we embrace that God is in control of time and seasons, we find a source of comfort and assurance. Here are some biblical examples that illustrate God's sovereign authority over time and seasons:
1. Ecclesiastes 3:1: "To everything, there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." This well-known verse reminds us that God orchestrates the seasons of our lives.
2. Psalm 104:19: "He made the moon for the seasons; the sun knows its going down." God's creation reflects His perfect order and timing.
3. Daniel's Interpretation (Daniel 2:20-21): Daniel acknowledges that God changes times and seasons, granting wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who seek it.
4. The Promise of Seedtime and Harvest (Genesis 8:22): God assures us that as long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.
5. The Birth of Jesus (Galatians 4:4): "But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law." God's timing was perfect for the arrival of our Savior.
6. The Parable of the Fig Tree (Matthew 24:32-35): Jesus teaches us to discern the signs of the times, emphasizing that even though heaven and earth will pass away, His words will not.
7. The Vision of Revelation (Revelation 1:3): John encourages us to read and keep the words of the prophecy, for the time is near, revealing God's divine plan.
8. Esther's Courage (Esther 4:14): Mordecai reminds Esther that she was placed in her position "for such a time as this," highlighting God's divine purpose in her life.
9. God's Faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23): "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." God's timing is always marked by His faithfulness and grace.
10. Jesus' Promise (Acts 1:7): "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority." Trusting in God's divine timing is an act of faith and surrender.
