Letting Go of Hate: Focusing on God's Promises
As followers of Jesus, we are called to love one another and to not harbor hate in our hearts. However, this can be easier said than done, especially when we encounter difficult situations or people. In times like these, it's important to turn to the Word of God for guidance and inspiration.
In Colossians 3:13, we are reminded to forgive one another, just as the Lord has forgiven us. "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." This verse encourages us to release any bitterness or resentment we may be holding onto, and to extend grace and forgiveness to those who have wronged us.
Similarly, in Proverbs 10:12, we are told that love covers over all wrongs. "Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs." This verse reminds us that love is the antidote to hate, and that by choosing to love and forgive, we can overcome any conflict or division.
When we feel overwhelmed by negative emotions, we can turn to Psalm 34:18, where it says: The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. This verse assures us that even in our pain and brokenness, God is with us and will provide us with comfort and healing.
