Letting Go of Pride through Scripture
As we approach the end of the week, let us take a moment to reflect on our actions and attitudes. In our quest for success and recognition, we can fall prey to the spirit of pride. This pride can lead to negative consequences in our personal and professional lives, hindering our growth and relationships with others.
But fear not, for the Bible provides us with guidance on how to let go of the spirit of pride. Proverbs 11:2 reminds us that
"when pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom."
Let us also look to Philippians 2:3 which instructs us to
"do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves."
But that’s not all the Bible can teach us about pride. Here are five steps to let go of pride biblically:
Recognize pride as sin and confess it to God. (Proverbs 16:18, James 4:6)
Focus on God's greatness and goodness instead of your own achievements. (Psalm 115:1, Colossians 3:23-24)
