Relying on God's Perfect Will in a Culture of Perfectionism: A Morning Prayer Reflection
In this Tuesday morning prayer, we reflect on how not to chase perfectionism but to follow God's perfect will for our lives. We are not perfect, as we are only human. There are many times when I wanted to get things just right in life. Whether it was for the satisfaction of seeing my accomplishment or seeking the approval of others.
However, in Christ, we understand it is not by our works but through God's spirit that we achieve our goals. When we submit ourselves to God, we are in tune with the word and the will he has for our lives. We then learn to rely on him to carry bring us to purpose. Zechariah 4:6:
So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.
The satisfaction that you feel when you accomplish something is no longer from a place of pride or self-righteousness, but from humility and awe of God’s work.
